HIAS PA
HIAS PA is a refugee resettlement agency in Center City. Students would receive training and materials to prepare them to provide job readiness training to HIAS PA clients and therefore add capacity to HIAS PA’s employment services. By volunteering with HIAS PA, you will meet and work with other people that are passionate about supporting refugees and immigrants and be instrumental in an individual’s increased independence, social mobility, and opportunity in the United States. The term client is used to refer to refugees and asylees served by HIAS PA. Available Times: Monday 12:30-5:30pm (includes travel time) Wednesday 9am-12:30pm (includes travel time) Wednesday 12:30-5:30pm (includes travel time) Puentes de Salud Puentes de Salud promotes the health and wellness of Philadelphia's rapidly growing Latinx immigrant population through health care, education, and community building initiatives. Students will help the education branch that serves youth ages 3-18 and their families through year-round, out-of-school-time programming. ***Mandatory orientation for all programs will take place Saturday, September 21, 10am-2pm at Puentes de Salud, 1700 South Street. *** Available Times: Monday 2:30-6:30pm—Elementary & Middle School (Southwark - includes travel time) Wednesday 2:30-6:30pm—Elementary & Middle School (Southwark - includes travel time) Tuesday 2:15-6pm—Early Childhood (Southwark - includes travel time) Thursday 2:15-6pm—Early Childhood (Southwark - includes travel time) In addition to volunteering at either site, volunteers are required to attend biweekly educational workshops on Wednesday nights at 7pm.
