The Songwriters Collective is expanding and looking for students with proficiency on an instrument (voice counts as an instrument) who are excited about writing original songs, inspired by poetry. No prior songwriting experience required. Members make close friends and songwriting colleagues through the intimacy and productivity of the group, including multiple bands that have been spawned from the collective.
The Songwriters Collective is a diverse group of Penn undergraduates who come together to support and challenge each other to write original music in a spiritually connective environment. We meet 8 times over the course of a semester on Sunday evenings (7-9) culminating with a concert in which members share the song(s) they are most proud of from the semester. For those interested in applying to the collective, please send a video or audio clip of you singing or playing a song, plus a paragraph about why you want to join the collective to Micah Shapiro mshapiro@pennhillel.org and Jacob Hershman jacoh@sas.upenn.edu.
